Custom Home Design | Swain County, NC

The Rupp Home is a custom design build, single family home. Carved out of the forest, this will be a dream, retirement home.

Working with the clients to customize their dreams, we are well into the construction phase with hopes of completing it by years end.

We had to overcome a few obstacles to get it this far. What seemed like four months of rain in this year’s first quarter proved to be an exercise in diligence and endurance. Then had to overcome underground unknowns like hard blue granite and freshwater springs during the foundation stage. Not to be the end of the challenges, Covid-19 arrived, resulting in road closures to the site, fears of personnel and material and labor shortages.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to build a mountain home — on the side of a mountain? Check out these timeline shots of our custom home project in Western North Carolina.

The Tapoco Lodge plays a distinct role in Graham County’s history, and it has been an honor to be an integral part of the recent upgrades.

Restaurant &

Our projects on the Lodge have included: building and overseeing the construction of a beautiful fireplace in the lobby of the lodge and remodeling the slick rock grill into what is now the Tapoco River Grill. We also designed and installed the new bar and top in its new location and added seating booths from the upstairs dining room.

We also installed a walk-in cooler system that feeds the bar on the other side of the wall.

This project was full of detailed tasks, frustrations, and hurdles that most people will ever realize, but the result was beautiful. We savored the experience of crafting renovations and solutions for a building with such an established character and legacy.

Our passion for high-quality construction gives us an observant and critical eye during our home inspections. Whether you are looking to inspect a potential find as a new home buyer, or simply evaluate solutions to issues arising from low-quality materials and builders, we are here to provide solutions. We’ve included a short gallery below of dangerous and disappointing work we’ve found from other builders and homeowners.

The home inspection technology we provide is second to none. We’ve spent the last three decades honing our skills and techniques, no one knows homes better than Covenant Inspections.

Trust us when we say that cutting corners just isn’t worth it — especially when talking about your family’s home.

fulton deck 024

The Fulton family had been with us for over 8 years and used Covenant for numerous projects. Our partnership started when a refrigerator burst in the winter. The water was turned ran continually and caused quite a bit of water damage. Since then, we have remodeled two bathrooms with walk-in tile showers, built a massive deck on the side of the house and completed a full remodel of the basement, adding 2 bedrooms and a bath.

Here is a great example of Covenant home projects. We love walking clients through projects from beginning to end and creating the tangible result of their hopes and dreams.

The home began when an upstairs water leak resulted in a small swimming pool in the basement. Taking advantage of the less than ideal repair, the owners turned this older lake house into a gorgeous little cottage. We partnered with the family to add new windows, a larger deck space, spray foam insulation, and all new plumbing, electrical and HVAC.

This home has a view that is second to none. Overlooking the Smokey Mountains, this house was in desperate need of repair and has become an owner’s showpiece. The wrap-around two story deck overhangs the mountain and is protected by a stainless steel cable railing system.
